Now I lay me down to sleep DRA | The Copper Fox Studio | Omaha family photographer | Omaha newborn

I am a very heart driven person. Connection, depth, soul...they're so incredibly important to me.

I believe if you're given a gift, you should use it to help those in need.

That's one of the reasons why I volunteer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep is a nonprofit organization that provides bereaved families, who are experiencing the loss of a baby, with fine art portraits. The organization brings together professional photographers who are called to the hospital to photograph the irreplaceable moments the family has with their child, and professional editors to ensure the images are moments of peace and healing.

I am a level 3 Digital Retouch artist, which essentially means that I help the babies that need the most time with their images. When the family receives the fully edited images, they will be able to look back and see a peacefully sleeping angel, and hopefully find comfort in the pain of that moment.

When I have talked about my duties as a DRA (digital retouch artist), I'm often told "I could never do that...I don't know how you do it." And honestly, I just say 'it's not about me."

Yes, it can be tough, but this mission is so much bigger than my personal feelings.

Loss is something we have all experienced. But being able to provide another person, who is in their deepest moment of grief, a small glimpse of beauty...it's absolutely worth it. What better gift to share than one that brings hope...or peace..or comfort?

I love the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and this quote has been branded on my heart for years.

To see the world, things dangerous to come to,

to see behind walls, draw closer,

to find each other, and to feel.

That is the purpose of life.

If you feel called to donate to NILMDTS, or would like more information you can visit the website here

Or if you are interested in volunteering, I'm always open to talk.

Stay connected, friends.
